At times, the animal spirit within us wants to be dominant and our human identity wants to lose itself in that spirit. This urge can be seen in African rituals of transformation. By wearing the mask, the subject under its influence is initiated into the primal self, in which animal and human are one in a participation mystique that allows one to enter this magical realm, in which the secret of transformation is revealed.
In this ritual the creature can ward off evil by becoming the force that it fears. Here, within the immersion of the symbolic life that the mask represents and that we all have within us, we would become what we were and still have a secret desire to be: to return to the instinctual base that is threatened to extinction by the influence of a civilization that would drive it out of us: to be free to release the animal soul in a world that would destroy it. The design of this wallpaper is meant to remind us that we can return when we wish, and in the following moment become human again, knowing what we may have forgotten.
