Most Native American tribes attach great significance to the symbolism of the bald eagle and its feathers. It is the sacred bird of almost every indian nation, who translates the language and strength of the spirit to the collective. The eagle is also the Symbol of courage, wisdom and power. In this pattern, dedicated to the Native American Indians, we follow a journey of a solitary native man galoping through the valley, embodying a sense of space and freedom in search of unity with nature under the protection of the eagle who is guiding him. In observing this journey unfold through the pattern one may reflect on the past and confront the present conflict the Native Americans have experienced on the deepest spirit level as well as the great concrete effect. The skull is there to remind us of the darkness that has loomed and continues to do so. And as, like the eagle, who serves as the Indian man's spirit and protector, he rides through the past with courage and resilience and into the present to claim back what is theirs.
